Statement to voters
Dear Resident
Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself and a little bit about why I am so passionate about representing the interests of Prettygate, where I work.
Full statement
Having spent five years working alongside Cllr Sue Lissimore, Cllr Roger Buston and Cllr Leigh Tate across Prettgate and Lexden - now is the time to step and be its next city councillor.
With over twenty years experience working in Healthcare here in North Essex and specifically Colchester I have held management, clinical and voluntary positions with most of our NHS hospitals, private hospital providers, healthcare charities and local Ambulance service.
In 2012 I established a not-for-profit healthcare organisation providing free or affordable event medical provision and first aid training to hundreds of public, community and sporting events and charitable organisations across the East of England region and wider UK. Growing year on year to become the largest not-for-profit ambulance provider in East Anglia. The most rewarding highlight for me has been in supporting, mentoring and training multiple local young people to fulfill their dreams of becoming registered Nurses, Paramedics and other Allied Healthcare Professionals. I continued this passion for education as a part time Clinical Lecturer for Anaesthetic, paramedical and nursing students at a local university.
In 2023 I decided to swap nights shifts for more time with my son and young family. Since then I have been a postman and currently a post office worker here in The Commons, Prettygate.
I am married to Angela, a Ministry of Defence public servant of 28 years from Colchester and with a 9 year old son, community safety, cleanliness and improving the assessability of public services, recreational facilities and educational access Prettygate are also issues of pressing importance and very very close to my own heart.
After 5 years being proactive in Prettygate (lobbying, litterpicking, grafetti removal, sign cleaning and painting), I now want to be your next professional and engaging representative who delivers open, honest and fair representation for you all, both within Prettygate and Lexden working alongside my colleague and friend Cllr Sue Lissimore.
On Thursday May 7th 2026 please lend me your vote so I can do even more for our community, where I work and champion at every oppurtunity.
Kind regards
David
