Statement to voters
Dear Pakefield and Carlton Colville neighbours
I’m writing to you as your postal ballot papers for the Pakefield and Carlton Colville by-election on 18 December will be delivered very soon.Full statement
I’m Dom Taylor, a proud dad of two daughters and four sons. I live near
CEFAS. My family has lived, worked and been to school here and I walk
our dog on Pakefield Beach, daily. From now until 18 December, I’ll be knocking on as many doors as possible to hear your concerns and ideas. I’ll also be holding a drop-in surgery at The Seagull Theatre, 19-75 Morton Road, Pakefield, NR33 0JH on Saturday 6th December from 1.30-4.30 pm. Tea and cakes provided! Do come along or email me at domsuffolkgreen@icloud.com with any questions.
What I care about: I’m a patriot. I love where I live and the people who live here.
I worked as a teenager in Suffolk factory jobs, then as an actor in theatre, TV and radio before going into public service; in probation, as a prison officer, senior prison officer, Ministry of Justice manager and co-founding a charity training ex-offenders. I proudly wore crown service uniform bearing an emblem of my country.
I learned people sacrifice their health to keep our country running and things are harder than they need to be through poor organisation and unfairness. I joined the Green Party because it’s about fairness and solving problems based on facts, not prejudice. Why I’m asking for your vote: I want to be your councillor for one reason only; to work with you and for you to make things better for all of us, to bring about much-needed change.
From my own experience, it’s clear that our children’s needs must be put far above those of distant multi-academy trust directors. We need to improve transport links and make water quality on our beach a higher priority for Anglian Water. We must give young people better opportunities on their doorstep and give people who’ve worked hard all their lives more joyful community experiences. Suffolk County Council must treat us with the respect our people and history deserve. To achieve this we need to work together. So I will also work to halt and heal division, to reason with anyone who thinks our very real problems can be solved by division and hate.
If you elect me, I’ll always listen to you. I’ll work as hard as possible to make things better for you.Yours faithfully
Dom Taylor
