Lyn was born in Glasgow in 1970 and grew up in Morayshire.

Having studied at Robert Gordon’s University in Aberdeen with honours in Public Administration, where she also was first active in student politics with the Federation of Student Nationalists, Lyn began her housing career in Aberdeen City Council where she continued her activism within the trade union movement and served as both Equalities Officer and Convenor of the city branch of Unison.With a postgraduate degree and over 15 years of a housing career which included working for the Chartered Institute of Housing, local authorities, housing associations and being self employed as a consultant, Lyn moved, with her husband, to East Lothian around 15 years ago and has undertaken a wider range of public service roles in health and social care as well as equalities, both paid and voluntary.Now raising a family in the area, Lyn was persuaded back into a more politically active life, was elected as Councillor for Dunbar & East Linton ward in 2022 and is Leader of the Opposition at East Lothian Council.
