Glenlaw House Parent and Carers Support Group chairperson Allan Petrie has been selected by Liberate Scotland to contest the Dundee City East Constituency at the Scottish Parliament elections on 7th May 2026.

Allan Petrie said:

“It is a privilege to be selected by Liberate Scotland to stand in my home city of Dundee. Before I accepted, I went to my membership of the support group and offered to step down as chairperson, but they refused – instead they gave me their full backing. That support means everything, because my campaign is built on the voices of real people, not party machines.”

Mr Petrie continued:

“I don’t deal in empty promises – I deal in results. Twice in a four years period I led campaigns that overturned brutal cuts to services and respite care for children with exceptional complex medical needs. I’ve fought to get carers rehoused into homes that actually meet the needs of those they look after, and I’ve made sure families received the equipment and support that councils and governments tried to deny them. That’s a record of delivery – and it’s only the beginning.”

“For over a decade, services have been slashed to the bone. Our most vulnerable – the disabled, the elderly, our poorest citizens – are treated as easy targets while career politicians in Dundee and through out the county put their party badges and personal ambition before the people who elected them. Well I say enough is enough. We can no longer sit back and accept decline, cuts, and excuses.”

“And let’s be clear – just after the last Westminster election, when we were promised change, it was the Labour Government who launched attacks on the disabled, the elderly and the poorest in our society. They now push through policies so authoritarian that no true democrat could support them. Dundee deserves better. Scotland deserves better. That is why I am standing – to put country and people before party, and to fight for a future worthy of us all” and that starts with Independence nothing less.
