Allan Petrie is a lifelong independence supporter, trade unionist and community campaigner from Dundee who has spent more than three decades standing up for ordinary people.

With a strong trade union background and years of grassroots activism, Allan has fought for workers, defended public services and challenged decisions that harm local communities.

He is also widely known for his voluntary advocacy work supporting carers, disabled people and families with complex medical needs. As a carer himself, Allan understands first-hand how broken systems affect real lives.

In 2018 he led the campaign that stopped the closure of Glenlaw House, a respite centre for children with complex medical needs. Against the odds, the campaign forced the reversal of cuts and protected a lifeline service for vulnerable families, proof that determined communities can win when someone is prepared to fight alongside them.

For Allan, independence is not just a constitutional argument, it is the tool Scotland needs to build a country where communities matter more than party machines.
