Statement to voters

I remember when Owen Street was a vibrant and busy place; everything that people needed could be found there.

Full statement

Now, it’s a ghost town – even the Co-Op has disappeared from our High Street. However, I have a comprehensive long term plan to revive Owen Street. I know several business owners in the area and I am ready to work with them to re-attract custom to Owen Street. However, firstly, we must make people feel safe in the area without the fear of being ASB or injured by poorly maintained pavements, especially whilst strongly with visibility at night – another severe consequence of the poor street lighting ; I will pressure the council to resolve this issue across the borough. Also, businesses need to feel safe to set up on Owen Street and not have to face the threat of robbery and damage to their property and so should our residents. I want to encourage more and more of our residents across Tipton Green to start their own businesses to fil the empty shops all around the area and I promise to fight for you, in the chamber, to get you the resources, that you need to succeed; I want to create a great network of businesses that work together and look out for each other for great commerce in Tipton Green, and hopefully, this attitude can trickle down to our residents as well as we work to create a closer and more united community. It is my aim to grow those small businesses into larger, more successful ones and unlock the potential of every resident in Tipton Green. I strongly believe that businesses and people can work together for the greater good of our society and the local economy, all whilst keeping council tax and business rates as low as possible for our small business owners and primarily, our residents. By coming together as all members of one great body, there is still hope and passion for revitalising the Tipton Green, we know and love – we have a common goal; therefore, we can succeed.
