Full statement
With a background in education and community regeneration, she sees the £20 million Plan for Neighbourhoods as a key opportunity to boost Ramsgate’s economy through skills training and job creation in hospitality, creative, digital, and green industries.
A passionate advocate for better local transport, Claire is calling for the reinstatement of the Number 9 bus from Ramsgate to Canterbury—essential for students, workers, shoppers, and those accessing healthcare.
Claire is backing the revival of Ramsgate Town Centre—supporting the empty shops campaign, shop refurbishments, and working with local traders and Police to tackle anti social behaviour. She welcomes the market’s return and Labour’s new powers to tackle absentee landlords.
Claire is fighting to save Pie Factory Music from eviction and opposes youth service cuts by Kent County Council. Having led apprenticeship programmes for autistic adults she champions opportunities for all.
A keen sea swimmer Claire has campaigned to stop sewage in our seas and to protect Thanet’s coastline. She’s proud of Ramsgate’s rich heritage, beautiful harbour, and vibrant community. The £20m Labour investment for Ramsgate is an opportunity to build a thriving, year-round economy to benefit all.
Claire's pledges to Ramsgate:
End Tory KCC waste on reckless spending and call for investment in frontline services.
.
Fix Social Care – Tackling poor standards and waiting lists.
Grade ‘A’ Education– Support children and young people for a better start in life. Save local youth services in Ramsgate
Repair our roads and pavements – reduce potholes and closures, improve accessibility
Better buses – restore key routes like the Number 9 to Canterbury
Revive our town centre.
Stop sewage scandal
“For too long, Kent County Council has ignored Ramsgate—focusing on safe West Kent Tory seats while our area is left behind. Time and again I hear the same concerns: lack of jobs, youth service cuts, anti-social behaviour, unaffordable housing, and poor public transport.
For decades Conservatives at KCC have squandered our money and let services crumble and blocked the change we desperately need.
Claire believes strong leadership for Ramsgate at Kent County Council is key to real change. She’s committed to working with MP Polly Billington and Thanet councillors to build a safer, fairer, and more prosperous community for all.
Vote for change at Kent County Council.
