Statement to voters

Successive Governments have cut public services, while the cost-of-living crisis deepens for working people, with energy, water and council tax bills all shooting up.

Full statement

The Green Party is now the only progressive voice left in British politics; that’s why I’m standing for Mayor – I’m determined to drive meaningful change by:

• Ensuring development is carefully managed, prioritising the needs of the many over the few.
• Delivering an integrated transport system, with more buses on more routes with simple and affordable fares.
• Investing to end homelessness, fighting for tenants rights and campaigning for rent controls.
• Building more social housing because affordable housing simply isn’t.
• Making sure housing developments include community facilities, and homes are properly insulated.
• Taking action to resolve the looming water crisis, and making more space for nature.
• Increasing support for small businesses, and growing the green economy.

Having directed the Cambridge office of a national construction company for 15 years, I understand business. I’m passionate about sustainability, and the importance of developing the skills of local people. Now retired, I work for social enterprises supporting the homeless and getting young people into construction.

Polls consistently report that most of us want to see the richest taxed and we want more government action on the climate crisis. But the major parties are not listening. The Greens are! If you want real hope and real change, VOTE GREEN on Thursday 1st May.
