Statement to voters

I will work tirelessly to deliver change for the people of Pitsea & Bowers Gifford by putting the community first and party politics second.

Full statement

As a local business owner, I specialise in projects to improve infrastructure, drive investment, upskill staff, and increase opportunities for clients.

As a Councillor, I will do the same for residents.

I grew up in Pitsea and live in Basildon.

I started a pothole & pavement campaign for Pitsea and the surrounding areas last year after visiting 100s of sites taking photographs & measurements, cataloguing the defects in our road and pavement network.

After countless emails, meetings and hours spent on the project we have recently seen a total of £14m of extra funding announced.

This is only the start.

I will hold every penny to account and ensure that the money is spent where it is needed - starting right here, in the Pitsea South East Ward.

I am acutely aware of the mismanagement of our finances with our taxes being spent on vanity projects in Billericay & Chelmsford or wasteage in procurment.

We had a plan to build a new swimming pool when we held the council for £2m after the Conservatives ripped apart our old one.

When we lost, they scrapped our plans and now it's finally being built - it's ended up costing £6m.

As a Councillor I will fight for a return from our tax contributions and for our fair share to be spent in our communities, right here in Pitsea South East.

I want deliver local change, for local people - not bend to the whim of Billericay, Chelmsford or areas further afield that do not understand or share our lived experiences as a community.

I want to keep our residents safe & will be looking to work with Essex County Council and Basildon Borough Council to keep our streetlights on.

With violent crime, aggressive anti-social behaviour, and criminal damage on the rise - I will be campaigning for a Police Hub in Pitsea to replace the now derelict Police Station, that at one time stood proudly within our community to protect residents.

Lastly, we have been left exposed to profit hungry developers once again, who have been left to run riot in our communities, due to the removal of the local plan.

With top down targets dictated to us by Government we need a sustainable programme where zoning is utilised to assess viability of developments, and to start putting people before profits.

I will fight to force developers to invest in local infrastructure, our schools, GP surgeries, roads/pavements and communities before a single brick is laid. If housing is to be built, it must benefit people in our community - not solely developers pockets.

We need affordable & sustainable housing, where local needs are the top priority.

I care about what happens to Pitsea & together, I believe we can build a better Basildon.

I share your frustrations, but can promise one thing - I will fight tirelessly for the residents of the Pitsea South East Ward.

The choice is simple on May 4th:

More of the same - or - Time for change ?

Thank you.
