Statement to voters
Your vote is your power.
Full statement
On May 4th, 2023, you will have THREE votes to select your Choice of Three Councillor Candidates. The Independent Choice will put forward Three experienced candidates with a record of passion for our local area. Irrespective of how anyone may want to vote in general elections, The Independent Choice is your locally focused party.
The ambition is to unite the electorate in our local ward area, under a local ethos, for the effective management of our local needs. Having given much of my free time and utilising my own money to pursue the desire, to restore real democracy. Your vote for The Independent Choice will enable local representation, truth, and a mandate for change.
My opinion is that national party loyalties are for general elections, whilst local independent representation provides the foundation of community spirit and preparedness to protect those communities, from the excesses of national ideology. Serving as the first line of defence in the protection of our freedoms, environment, and sense of belonging here and within the borough of our town of Bolton. With many other like-minded Local Independents, I will ensure our Council and Government continue to be held to account, demanding the delivery of better basic services, which have declined so much in recent years.
I am actively opposing the introduction of new powers to restrict, or levy charges for freedom of movement, in the form of CAZ, Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs), and increased taxation directives from combined Local and Regional Authorities. My work ongoing is focused on providing honest information to expose the origins and potential consequences of such directives. The government’s recent decision to exempt certain telecoms infrastructure from local planning controls highlights the need for local independent representation and challenge.
Fundamentally, the role of a ward councillor is to stand guardian and witness, providing YOU with a voice and listening ears for your genuine concerns that seem sacrificed all too easily on the altar of party politics. I, therefore, seek your support in this endeavour to recognise that everyone has a voice, and every voice has the right to be heard!
With all of this in mind, I respectfully ask for your support on May 4th, 2023. Sincerely Yours, Gordon Campbell, The Independent Choice for Heaton, Lostock, Ladybridge & Chew Moor.
Your Voice, Our Local Ward Area, Standing for Justice, Highways, Crime, Health, Social, Care, Well-being, The Elderly & Vulnerable, Environment, Recreation & Place, Business, Opportunity, Education and Cohesion.
