Full statement

The last few years have deeply eroded public trust in our elected officials. Scandals, broken promises and partygate have been toxic to our democracy. I will endeavour to speak and act with honesty and integrity in all I do.

The current cost of living crisis is having a detrimental effect on people across the board. We want the state to commit to build housing on a large scale, nationalise transport and energy, and rebuild our country’s industry for the common good. These policies in the long term will reduce the cost of renting, reduce the cost of energy and place Britain on the best possible footing to bounce back from a decade of stagnation.

Unlike other parties we are not indifferent to what is made where and by whom. We stand against outsourcing our carbon emissions to other nations which have lower standards on pollution. Instead we want to ensure the UK is independent and resilient against global shocks by investing in manufacturing and building a green economy.

Along with material support for the NHS, we want to create a national care service to meet the needs of an ageing population and free up hospital capacity.

We want to implement a compassionate yet sensible approach to the refugee crisis which prioritises taking the most insecure people in refugee camps over those from Europe crossing illegally with the help of criminal gangs.

The Social Democratic Party will fight for the common good in Britain’s national interest. We believe in a strong social sector whilst holding to traditional values. We believe in community, family and nation. I believe the role of parents should be respected by allowing them to have a greater level of input into their child’s education.

The Social Democratic Party stands for free speech, free association and freedom of religion. We stand for democracy and will fight for a fairer system of elections that makes every vote count and allows people to vote for who they prefer rather than the least worst option.

If you have any issues you want to raise or questions about me or my campaign then I would love to hear from you. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you will consider voting SDP at the next election.
