Statement to voters

I'm James Hughes.

Full statement

I've lived in Hilton for over six years and in the general area since 1995. I want to be a councillor because I'm passionate about protecting our rural communities and green spaces whilst being mindful of essential development.

I know it is possible to both protect the character of our historic villages and to provide the homes that people need with the infrastructure they deserve. My work experience is in construction almost exclusively on brown field site projects, developing new offices, schools, and residential flats located close to amenities.

I understand the challenges faced by rural communities including affordable housing, accessibility to local services and public transport.

A promise to you; I would have an open access policy and will be here to reflect your views to Huntingdon District Council.

I currently take part in the National Gardens Scheme and play the church organ in several local villages and towns. It’s great to be part of the local community.
