Statement to voters

Bastôn De’Medici-Jaguar was born and raised in Jamaica.

Full statement

He migrated to the UK seven years ago, where he read law at university. After completing his training as a barrister, Bastôn was called to the Degree of the Utter Bar in 2023 by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple.

Before migrating to the UK, Bastôn worked for four years in the service industry and another four in education. Whilst reading for his law degree, he worked with asylum-seekers (who had exhausted all rights of appeal), assisting them in submitting fresh claims to the Home Office. Bastôn also worked as a policy researcher with the Environmental Law Foundation, investigating the state of affairs of Local Wildlife Sites and making policy recommendations to local authorities on how to improve these sites and cultivate a more cohesive ecosystem.

Driven by social injustice and a desire to be more involved in the community, Bastôn joined the Green Party and was selected by his local party to stand in the 2022 local elections in Kenton. As a Green Party member and if elected to parliament as an MP for Brent West, Bastôn will champion: • a call for a poverty emergency • a ceasefire and recognition of a sovereign Palestine • overhauling the disability welfare system to treat disabled people with dignity • affordable housing & a charter to protect renters and • food security

Bastôn believes there is presently not much difference between the two largest parties, which have moved from the original premise on which they were founded, resulting in a stagnation of long-term policies that affect society at large. As such, Bastôn strongly believes in the need to engage in honest conversations on the difficult decisions that need to be made to ensure we have a prosperous future for generations to come.

A vote for the Greens is NOT a wasted vote, but a vote for real hope and real change!
