Statement to voters

My wife and I moved to Woodley over 25 years ago to bring up our three children.

Full statement

They all attended local schools (Highwood, Bulmershe and Waingels). We found that Woodley has a great sense of community, some lovely open spaces, and is a lovely place to raise a family.

Professionally I’m a Chartered Electrical Engineer. I work in the process and new energy sectors (Battery factories, carbon capture schemes, hydrogen plants) I’ve been fortunate that my career has taken me around the world and I’ve been assigned to offices in the US and Italy.

I’m an Elder at Wycliffe Baptist Church (down at Cemetery Junction) where I lead worship and occasionally preach, and I teach in Sunday school. I serve on the Wokingham SACRE (Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education).

Lib Dems want to see people flourish as individuals by being part of a community. I think more needs to be done to strengthen youth services here. We also need to build more reasonably priced housing for young people as they start in life. My children have had to move away to find somewhere affordable.

This statement was added by Nigel Harman, their team, or by a Democracy Club volunteer, based on information published by the candidate elsewhere.
