Statement to voters

Full statement

Vote Labour. Don’t listen to Lib Dem fearmongering!

Chelmsford West has rejected the Tories. In 2019 they got less than a third of the vote in your ward. You don’t have to ‘play it safe’ and vote tactically. Vote for what you want to see, a Labour council.

Pete has been campaigning in Chelmsford for 25 years. He understands the needs of this changing city. One of the starkest changes he has highlighted is the fire safety issue in high rises and flats. He was campaigning about fire safety in tall bulidings before Grenfell and has escalated this campaign in recent years. The scandal has become as much about financial safety as fire safety for leaseholders and tenants. The government is refusing to change the law. This forces the costs on to the victims rather than those that cause the scandal. #EndOurCladdingScandal
