While born in Yorkshire, I’ve been down South for over 30 years and I married a local lass. We live in the house where she grew up in Witchford.

I’m actively involved in our community: I help to run a local archery club. I volunteer with Code Club — showing 9-13 year olds what fun computer coding can be.

I was a Mental Health Nurse for my first career where I worked with people from all walks of life. I’m now in software development. It’s all about finding new ways to solve problems effectively. We need more of that at the District Council!

I’m a keen cyclist and worry about safe routes for all road users. Round here the car is seen as king. Labour would work with parishes and community groups to provide good quality, well-signposted foot and cycle paths.

Wetter and colder winters are opening up more potholes and drier summers mean soil shrinks and roads fall in. This is dangerous for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. I want to see more pro-active maintenance rather than the Conservative sticking plaster approach of waiting for serious damage before acting.

I’m pleased that Labour County Councillors backed a new fast-track process for communities to request 20mph zones. We need more initiatives like this that put local communities in control of what happens in their neighbourhood.
