My name is Mike Webb and I am seeking election as your local councillor for Hawkwell East.

I enjoy living in this ward and grew up in this area, attending local schools. I care about where we all live and I want to ensure that we have a strong voice on Rochford District Council.

As a former District Councillor with 8 years experience, I am also a Community Development Worker for the Rochford Methodist Church and a trustee for the Bar N Bus. I am involved in raising funds for local schools and also distribute food parcels to those in need. I have a good knowledge of the issues that matter to the residents of our town. Having worked in local Government for 10 years, including at Essex County Council, managing policy and local services, I also have a good understanding of how local Government works. As a District Councillor, I reported numerous pot holes and ensured that they were fixed as soon as possible. I also supported residents in dealing with housing related issues.

I feel that all this experience will enable me to be a strong voice that desires the right action being taken for residents on local services and improvements.

As an independent councillor, I believe that I can best serve this area and stand up for issues that matter. I have been involved in setting up the save the Freight House campaign as I feel that our town deserves investment in its assets and want to see this building reopened for use by our community.
