Statement to voters

Local Councillor Sam Ammar is running as an independent candidate in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Full statement

Currently serving as a district councillor for Charford and in her second term as Chairman of Bromsgrove District Council, Sam was recently re-elected with unanimous support from all political parties.

She believes this re-election demonstrates her ability to collaborate across party lines for the betterment of residents. Sam's educational background includes a BA in Tourism Business Management from Birmingham University, an MSc in Global Marketing from Liverpool University, and a Digital Diploma from Ireland. As a successful entrepreneur, she founded a marketing company in 2016 that has executed projects for multinational brands in 12 countries. Fluent in Arabic, Sam exports professional services to the Middle East and aims to attract Direct Foreign Investment to Bromsgrove District if elected as the MP.

Previously chairing the Labour Party in Bromsgrove and serving as a Labour councillor, Sam recently resigned from the party, accusing the regional office of anti-democratic behaviour as they parachuted an unknown candidate from Ealing to run in Bromsgrove without local party selection or endorsement. Unlike her competitors, Sam's candidacy was nominated by community members who have witnessed her work first hand in Bromsgrove, rather than by a political party.

Her independent status allows her to vote on Bromsgrove issues without party influence. She promises to establish a digital platform for residents to vote on parliamentary issues before she makes decisions. Sam resides in Bromsgrove with her husband and two children.

Pledges - Attracting direct foreign & national investment into Bromsgrove district - Parliament policy digital voting platform (Bromsgrove residents can vote on issues before Sam has to vote in Parliament) - Assessment of the green belt - Opposing tax on private education - Increase in services in the princess of Wales Hospital - out of hours GP surgery - Opposing trade deals undercutting British farmers - Private Bill - Government Backed interest free 20-year home insulation loans

• Unlike the other candidates I will only be working for Bromsgrove and not a political party so I will be available to act as an ambassador to attract direct foreign investment to the district that will help improve the high streets with entertainment venues like bowling, arcades and shops of things you cannot buy online.

• I will be voting against Tax on private schools because of the impact it has on children who will be purged, they will lose their friends and teachers and so forth. I think the government should focus on tax loopholes of multi-national companies.

• I advocate for healthy food that doesn’t travel and cause environmental damage due to distance travelled. Therefore, I oppose trade deals that hurt British farmers, I support and advocate for investment in the farming industry. I travel to countries where allergies are not something that is discussed in food establishments and schools. In some countries people don’t have allergies, this is connected to processed food consumption. Local produce and unprocessed foods have a positive impact on quality of life and a reduction in NHS need due to allergies.

• I don’t shy away from the difficult positions. I will ask for a re--assessment of the green belt. There are storage units, petrol stations and car parks on the green belt. We identify building sites as the housing crises has become unbearable. In Bromsgrove we have over 2,000 couch surfers, these are typically young people who simply cannot move out due to the housing crises. I will have the power as MP to ask for a fast assessment of the green belt and intend to do so.

• Parliament policy has become divorced from what people think, party donors have very much influenced how Mps vote. I will within three months set up a digital platform where I will put a video about a policy I need to vote on and ask members of the public in Bromsgrove to make their vote, this way, I will be able to gauge how people feel and vote accordingly. As an independent, I will not be swayed by a party whip and be forced to vote with the party.

• A private bill. MPs have an opportunity to bring a private bill to parliament. Mine will be a bill that allows for 20-year interest free government backed loan to insulate houses. The insulation will reduce bills significantly in some cases 60% and therefore the owners will pay back the loan in the same amount of the reduction less 50%. So owners will have more money in their pocket, a cozy home and more money in their pocket while reducing their carbon footprint.
