The Mayor of West Yorkshire is a new position, and 2021 will be its first election. The Mayor will work with the leaders of the five councils who make up the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, to provide strategic direction in areas such as transport, housing, and employment.
From 10 May, the Mayor of West Yorkshire will also assume the powers and responsibilities of the region's Police and Crime Commissioner.
