Statement to voters

I am delighted to be standing as a candidate for the Liberal Democrats in Godalming Central & Ockford in the elections for Waverley Borough Council on Thursday 04 May.

Full statement

A bit about me:

🏠 I live in Godalming with my husband Tom (Cllr Tom Kiehl, and up for re-election!) and our toddler.

πŸ‘ΆπŸΌ I had my son during the first lockdown, when services for new babies and mums were almost non-existent. Experiencing this first hand, I wanted to make sure that families are getting the support they need from community health services.

πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Following a career break, I am now the Lay Co-Chair for the South West Surrey Birth to Five Years Community Health Partnership, a new voluntary group established last year. We go out to local groups and community spaces in Waverley to listen to feedback and work with families and carers to make improvements to services like health visiting.

πŸ›οΈ I have previously worked in local government in Surrey for a number of years. This has given me a real insight into how we can improve services in our area, and how best to work with communities to make positive changes.

πŸš’ I had a range of roles - from running scrutiny committees for elected councillors to hold decision makers to account, like the Police & Crime Panel, to managing projects for Surrey Fire & Rescue Service.

πŸ”Ά I have campaigned for the Liberal Democrats at local and Parliamentary elections for a number of years. I started my career working for a Lib Dem MP in Parliament, achieving changes to the law on climate change and flood management.

πŸ“’ If elected, I will be a strong voice for Godalming Central & Ockford on Waverley Borough Council. I hope to bring the experiences I have had to the table, to make sure that our residents are heard - and that those making the decisions better reflect society.

πŸ—³ I look forward to continuing to meet many of you on the doorstep and around town. If you see me out and about, do come and say hello!
