Full statement

Despite holding power in local and national government, Labour continues to shift blame onto others and avoids taking responsibility.

The only way to improve local public services is to remove Labour on Calderdale Council from power by voting Conservative. The Conservative Group is the leading opposition party on Calderdale Council and the only party with a real opportunity to replace Labour.

Labour has failed to deliver local public services, provide value for money, complete projects on time, and represent local interests. This needs to change.

Their failures include:

Lack of progress on the Town Centre improvements in Todmorden Failure to oppose the construction of an incinerator in Ryburn Ward Not building more parking spaces in Hebden despite persistent calls from residents Failure to deliver the new leisure centre in Halifax Slow progress on Elland Railway Station Silence on the proposed wind farm on Walshaw Moor These failures impact residents across all of Calderdale. We all have a responsibility to ensure everyone receives better public services by voting Labour out.

What have the Conservatives done for Calder Ward and the rest of Calderdale?

The previous Government provided record sums of money to improve flood defences across the Upper and Lower Valley and over £50 million to improve the town centres in Todmorden, Elland, Halifax, and Brighouse. On the Council, the Calderdale Council Conservative Group has:

Called for more parking spaces in areas such as Hebden and Mytholmroyd Advocated for cheaper parking charges across all of Calderdale Opposed the construction of the incinerator in Ryburn Ward and the closure of Elland Tip

Calderdale Council Conservatives have persistently called on the Labour-run Council to focus on delivering better public services and provide value for money. Council Tax increases continue to burden residents and families, despite the declining quality of Council Services

On Thursday, 24 October 2024, vote for Brian Carter.
