Statement to voters
I have lived in Bromley all my life (apart from a few years at university in Sheffield) and am passionate about making our ward Bromley Common and Holwood better after years of cuts and threats on our green spaces.
Full statement
I work in rail and am also a union rep for RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport workers) as I’m very passionate about equality, inclusion and improving terms and conditions for all people. I will bring this passion to the council and fight against cuts to our public services we pay for.
I am also an active committee member of Friends of Whitehall recreation ground and have been involved in a lot of fundraising events to improve the park over the years. Our green spaces in our ward are under threat and I will fight any attempt to attack them, especially considering the development that hook farm is being threatened by the recent development proposal.
As a councillor I will represent everyone and make sure that everything I do is in the interests of residents in our ward.
My priorities include:
• Protecting our valuable green spaces and preventing building on them, and providing actual affordable housing through development of underused/abandoned properties.
• Keeping Bromley in London so we don’t lose our benefits of free bus travel, and discounted rail travel for under 18s and over 60s.
• Decrease privatisation of public assets and bring more in-house, saving money and increasing quality of public services.
• Make our roads safer by lowering speed limit and increase safer road crossings.
• Giving better support to local independent businesses so that they can not only survive but thrive in Bromley.Working with fellow Green candidates Clare Searle and Geraldine Kerr, we would represent a real change for our community in Bromley Common & Holwood. Therefore I am asking you to please cast all three votes for your Green Party candidates on 7th May.
