Hello, I’m Stuart Hooper, and I’m standing to represent Twyford on Wokingham Borough Council.

I’ve lived in and around Twyford and Ruscombe since 2016, and I recently joined Twyford Parish Council. I enjoy volunteering across the borough by cleaning road signs, and litter picking our streets, parks, and rivers.

Over the past 15 years, I’ve been designing public services within the central government, to make improvements in the way services are delivered to you. I intend to bring the skills and knowledge earned in that time to represent Twyford.

I grew up on a small farm near Exmoor, and helping build our family home taught me the value of hard work and taking pride in where you live. Those values guide me today, which is why I settled here in Twyford where the sense of community is strong.

If elected, I will focus on:

1. Keeping parks, waterways, and footpaths safe, clean, and accessible.

2. Ensuring borough-wide developments meet local and environmental needs, while respecting Twyford’s character, though the creation of a citizens climate assembly.

3. Advocating for better commuter transport and smarter traffic planning, focussing on scalable solutions over permanent silver bullets, inline with Wokingham's climate emergency action plan.

4. Supporting high street shops and small businesses to keep Twyford vibrant. Ideally helping find opportunities for young people to start-up or join the workforce.
