Statement to voters

I was born in India and raised in London.

Full statement

My background is in the visual arts. I studied Fine Art at St Martin’s and Chelsea Schools of Art. Over the following 15 years, my artistic practice took me on a global journey, exhibiting in London, New York, Italy, and China. This experience in the arts instilled in me a curiosity about the human psyche and our interaction with the world around us. In 2000, wanting to explore beyond my internal dialogue and the confines of my studio, I started a business in Architectural Design and Development with my husband. In 2004 we moved to the south of France where we lived for 17 years, and where our son was born. Living abroad afforded me invaluable insights and understanding of the challenges of integration and the universal quest for connection across linguistic and cultural divides.

Returning to London in 2021, I witnessed a nation in crisis, threatening our core values of good governance, social welfare, and tolerance. It was not the country I had left behind and had grown up in. As our world feels increasingly fractured and atomised, where information overload often leads to anxiety, confusion and separation, we are, as a society, losing the balance between collective and individual needs. The Green Party's manifesto offers solutions to societal inequalities, and I'm dedicated to leading the charge for policy reform. It's evident that current governance is failing, and we need a new direction. Our manifesto provides an opportunity for change towards economic sustainability, social justice, and environmental stewardship, together with a new vision of doing things. As a parliamentary candidate, I can bring a unique perspective shaped by my multifaceted and multi-cultural experiences and will be dedicated to advancing inclusive policies that honour our shared humanity and collective progress. I'm committed to championing a vision for a better, brighter and more hopeful future.
