Previously a Labour Councillor for Sketty Ward on Swansea City Council (2017-2022), I joined the Green Party in the summer of 2022.

The Labour Party under the leadership of Keir Starmer has shed much of its former social-democratic identity, including many one-time policy commitments. For the record: I am strongly pro-EU membership, having voted Remain in the 2016 referendum; I am a firm advocate of electoral reform for Westminster elections - undemocratic FPTP to be replaced by STV; I am strongly against nuclear power for energy - renewables, especially wind, solar and tidal are much safer and cheaper; and I am committed to effective programmes of government action to counter global climate change and the recovery of biodiversity. I worked as the environmental policy officer for RSPB Cymru from 2002 to 2016.
