Statement to voters
I am a sitting Sandwell councillor and very proud of my record in Bearwood.

I was born in America (in Hollywood!), but I am also British and have lived in the UK for over 20 years. The people of Bearwood are the most warm and welcoming - I'm so happy in the West Midlands, and I can't imagine wanting to live anywhere else.
I came to politics in mid-life as a single parent on benefits for the first time after being made redundant from my job. I found so many obstacles in my path, that didn't seemed pointless and unnecessary. It angered me. I thought about it and decided if I wanted to make my community better, I should stop commenting about the state of things and do something about it.
I've been fortunate in recent years and worked hard. I'm now in a better place, but I know so many others who are struggling . I want to make a difference for others in my community, be it on individual levels, throughout Bearwood, and across Sandwell.
