Statement to voters
Dear Resident,
My name is Kevin, and I’m standing for you in Broomfield & Writtle division and Broomfield & The Walthams ward.
Full statement
I live in Broomfield and work locally as a paramedic. Through my work, I see first-hand the pressures on our roads, services and community— I understand how much it matters that we feel safe, connected, and able to enjoy the natural world around us.
A practical plan for our area
I will focus on issues that really matter:
· Housing development that starts with services—schools, GP access, buses, and green spaces, and working with police and community safety partners
· Bus-first planning, protecting routes (including evenings and Sundays) and properly linking communities
· Safer school journeys, including a 20mph zone on School Lane and measures to reduce rat-running
· Proper road maintenance—because prevention is cheaper than repair, and residents shouldn’t pay twice
· Stronger support for social care, with reliable, well-commissioned services rather than patchwork provision
· Protection of wildlife and access to nature as a core part of planning decisions
· Transparency in local government and meaningful consultation—so residents are informed and have a real say in the decisions that affect them.
A note on this election
As the Green Party is largely funded by members and small donations, we have the freedom to stay focused on local priorities. By contrast, larger parties such as the Conservatives—and newer parties like Reform—rely heavily on large donors and corporations. I often urge voters to consider what interests those funding models could bring with them.
I notice too, that there has been some focus diverted to national issues like immigration. I want to be straight with voters: local councils do not set immigration policy. These elections are about our services, planning, transport, and community wellbeing. Suggesting otherwise risks distracting from the decisions that truly affect our day-to-day life here.
A local representative you know
In a time when trust in politics is uncertain, I’m offering something simple: a local candidate with a track record of serving the community every day.
I work with people from all walks of life, often at their most vulnerable. It has taught me how to listen, how to advocate, and how to work constructively with others to get things done.
That’s the approach I would bring to representing you.
This May, I hope you will consider supporting the Green Party.
Yours sincerely,
Kevin
