Full statement
It's been wonderful getting things done for our community over the past years and meeting so many of you more recently. Thank you for your continued support.
I’m a local man who understands local people and I have the skills to do the job. I'm from Storrington. I have lived here for several years. I love the place and the people, but I do get fed up when I see that the whole of the area, from Parham to Amberley, though Storrington, across Ashington and Washington to Wiston is often ignored and neglected. I am keen to really make a difference to local people's lives. That's why I became a Parish Councillor at Storrington & Sullington Parish Council and was voted in as Vice Chair last year. I’m hard working, organised and know how to get things done.
As your West Sussex County councillor, I'll get even more done for our area.
I am always free to speak up for local residents. Unlike other parties, the Green Party doesn't tell councillors how to vote. I can always put you ahead of party politics and stand up for what's right for Storrington, Sullington, Cootham, Amberley, Ashington, Washington, Parham and Wiston.
In recent months, as part of my Parish Council responsibilities, I've worked hard to make our streets safer, to reduce air pollution, sort out footpaths and write bids for funding to improve our leisure facilities. I've reported endless potholes and followed up to get them fixed and I've helped support the Storrington White Stork and Nature Festival (at Chanctonbury Leisure Centre on 23rd May) and the revival of the Friends of Meadowside group and I am currently working on a playground strategy.
You face an important choice this May. The truth is, the old parties you've perhaps always voted for can't win round here this time.
I can win here in Storrington division. At the last local elections, the Greens won first place in Storrington. The Conservatives, Lib Dems and Labour don’t have enough support to win here, so it’ll be a clear, two-horse race between me and Reform this time.
