Statement to voters
My name is Jamal Sarwar, and I have proudly lived in the West End of Newcastle since the early 1980s.

This is where I raised my family, and where my heart and community are.
I served for more than 10 years as Chair of the Newcastle British Bangladeshi Taxi Drivers Association, and I also worked as an interpreter with the NHS and Social Services, helping people access the support they need.
Now that I am semi-retired, I want to dedicate even more of my time to serving our community.
That is why I am standing in the May council elections. My priority is simple, to help create a better West End of Newcastle where all communities live together in harmony, and where we have clean, safe, and welcoming neighbourhoods for everyone.
