Statement to voters
I am Sunny Cadman and I have lived in West Molesey for over 15 years, raising my family here and becoming deeply invested in our community.
Full statement
Over recent years, I have been actively involved in local issues, working behind the scenes and on the ground to support residents, improve our environment and ensure our voices are heard. I believe being a councillor is about showing up, listening and taking action where it matters most.
I have supported local initiatives including tree planting and litter picking to enhance our green spaces, while also holding authorities to account when those efforts have not been properly protected or coordinated. I have supported residents on concerns such as road safety, parking pressures and the impact of overdevelopment in our neighbourhoods.
I am particularly passionate about safe routes for children. I have been actively pushing for a safe crossing between Grovelands Recreation playground to Hurst Park school (please sign my petition here: https://tinyurl.com/4u9umcjz) , recognising how important it is for families and school children to move around safely. Road safety improvements should not wait for accidents and I will continue to prioritise practical solutions that protect our community.
One issue I feel strongly about is the increasing number of family homes being intensified into high-occupancy HMOs without proper planning scrutiny. I will continue pushing for an Article 4 Direction for Molesey, ensuring that changes like these require full planning permission. (please sign my petition here: https://tinyurl.com/fwdtbhx7) This will help protect the character of our residential streets, reduce pressure on parking and infrastructure and give residents a stronger voice in shaping their area.
I am a committee member of the Molesey Garden Society and take pride in supporting local events and initiatives. This year, I will be volunteering at the Molesey Carnival, something I have attended every year. Supporting community events is incredibly important to me, as they bring people together and strengthen the sense of pride we have in where we live.
I am committed to improving communication with residents. In today’s world, people expect clear, regular updates and transparency, and I will bring energy and consistency to keeping our community informed.
Looking ahead, I want to support not just infrastructure and planning improvements, but also community life. I would love to see my initiatives like a Molesey Chess Club bring people together and create opportunities for connection across all ages in West Molesey.
This election is about who will actively represent West Molesey and deliver real outcomes. With only two councillors representing our area on the new East Surrey Council, it is essential we have dedicated, engaged individuals who will stand up for our community.
I am standing because I care deeply about Molesey and the people who live here. I will work hard, stay visible and always put our community first.
I hope you will support me and Steve Bax on 7th May.
