Statement to voters
Ben has lived in Norwich since moving to the city in 2001.
Full statement
A gardener by profession and father of two children, he has been a Norwich city councillor since 2012 and a Norfolk county councillor since 2021.
Ben is standing for both the county and city seats in Wensum because he wants to help bring real positive change to local residents, and feels that both the Labour and Conservative administrations have simply failed to deliver.
Ben has a good understanding of the issues that matter to the people of Norwich. He has worked alongside residents to solve local problems, while trying to effect positive change across the city.
Ben acutely understands the importance of biodiversity and the impacts climate change is having on the natural and human worlds
He brings extensive experience in governance having served on the county council’s Strategic and Corporate Select Committee, and chaired the city council’s Audit Committee with distinction.
As the Green Group’s lead on finance at County Hall, Ben has consistently proposed budget amendments that prioritise the community’s future—reallocating funds from the costly road building schemes, toward better buses, safer cycling, and walking infrastructure.
His practical expertise also drives his push for more street trees, natural flood defenses, and a reduction in pesticide use.
If re-elected, Ben is committed to championing "wrap-around" care, with a particular focus on improving mental health services and holistic support to ensure that any residents that need suport, will receive the compassionate care they deserve.
Ben will also fight tirelessly for Norwich to be a leader in transitioning to a low-carbon economy. Helping to attract high quality jobs and significant investment to the city.
