Statement to voters
Steve has been a councillor for 9 years, the last four in Milton Ward, where he lives.
Full statement
He is the elected Leader of Portsmouth City Council.
For many years, Steve ran the Cellars at Eastney. He champions all things ‘arts and culture’ for the city, and has ensured that Portsmouth has a year of celebrations to commemorate its 100th anniversary as a city.
Steve, alongside his Lib Dem ward colleagues Kimberly Barrett and Gerald Vernon-Jackson, has built up a positive reputation as someone who helps and supports local people.
Steve and the local Lib Dem councillors have made sure the council is well-led. Portsmouth has lower council tax than nearby cities. Unlike other areas, the city provides a weekly bin collection service and isn’t cutting services.
Investment by the Lib Dem-led council will also see a brand new GP surgery and swimming pools in Eastney and Steve has led this project.
This statement was added by Steve Pitt, their team, or by a Democracy Club volunteer, based on information published by the candidate elsewhere.
