Steven was born in Bellshill on 27 August 1981 and raised in Viewpark and still lives in the village today.

He was educated at St Gabriel’s Primary School and Cardinal Newman High School. He was first elected for the SNP in 2015 as Councillor for Thorniewood and reelected in 2017. Steven was then elected to represent his hometown constituency of Coatbridge Chryston and Bellshlll in 2019.At Westminster, Steven held the role as the SNP spokesperson for Environment, Food and rural affairs and has been a strong voices for Scotlands Produce and those who produce it for us.Steven entered politics from a successful career in retail and security management for two main reasons . Independence being the main driver but also to support in protecting local green spaces for local use and to protect the local environment for futures generations.
