John Williams's policies
Statement to voters
Do you feel let down by all the main parties on Gaza, on the Post Office scandals and infected blood, on housing, on the NHS and local services? Do you feel like nothing is working properly –and yet the rich are getting richer all the time? We agree.
Full statement
Keir Starmer’s Labour will be the next government, but in Cardiff East you have a chance to tell them what you think by voting for a socialist working-class fighter instead of another career politician. I’m a member of the Socialist Party, hospitality worker in Cardiff, a campaigning trade unionist, leading workers’ struggles and opposing the Gaza war, standing for the rights of Palestinians. We say: Fully fund the NHS and other public services. Stop and reverse privatisation Mass council house building - Rent control now. For real workers’ rights – inflation-proofed pay rises, a ban on zero hour contracts and fire and re-hire, for a £15 an hour minimum wage, abolish anti-union laws. Free education and training. Abolish tuition fees. Grants not loans. Votes at 16 for UK elections. Combat climate change. Re-nationalise the transport system to provide cheap travel. Nationalise Tata steel at Port Talbot to save jobs and invest in green steel. Fight for socialist change Take the wealth off the 1%. Run society in the interests of the many not the few.
