I strongly believe working together with residents gets results and this has been shown from the introduction of the 20mph speed limit in Milford to major projects like removing the high-rise blocks in the Friary and replacing with traditional homes.

Introduction of the High Street pedestrianisation, residents parking zones and involvement in planning applications are all further examples of where I have worked closely with residents to bring about change successfully.

Working with tenants, I was instrumental in stopping the attempt to sell-off the Salisbury’s council housing stock. Thanks to retaining Salisbury’s council house stock, when others in Wiltshire sold theirs, Wiltshire Council are now able to build new council homes for those in need throughout Wiltshire.

After a difficult year for many of us, and whilst Salisbury has fared better than many other communities, we now need to rebuild our retail economy in the city centre and work towards achieving positive change. We need a greater emphasis on green issues, getting Salisbury ready to face the challenges of the 21st Century. These changes can only be achieved, if we all work together and understand that this will involve working with others who may have a different opinion.

Elected since 1995 for St Martins and Cathedral Ward, which, with the boundary changes becomes the newly formed Ward of Harnham East.

Positions held include; former Portfolio Holder for Housing with Salisbury District Council, former Chair of Longford Primary School, Friary Residents Association and Governor of Exeter House Special School. Trustee of Elizabeth House Social Centre. Previous Observer to the International Arts Festival Board and Salisbury Arts Centre. I held the office of Mayor of Salisbury 2001-2002.
