Statement to voters

Erewash Labour are immensely pleased to announce JAMES DAWSON as our candidate for ILKESTON SOUTH & KIRK HALLAM in next year’s county council elections.

Full statement

James has already been a councillor in Ilkeston since 2011, and has served as Leader of Erewash Borough Council since 2023. As leader, he’s steered the borough from near-bankruptcy to financial security, all while maintaining public services and without making any redundancies. Every step of the way, he’s had to fight the Tories on this, and handled them with a cool-head and professionalism.

Conservative-run Derbyshire County Council is in such a mess - James is exactly the kind of strong, experienced hard-worker we need to elect next May. He knows how to bring a broke council back from the brink. He knows how the Tories have let our roads and pavements rot, he knows their plans to shut Bennerley Fields care home - and most importantly, he knows how to hold them accountable for their failures.

In the New Year, James and the rest of the Erewash Labour team will be out in Ilkeston South & Kirk Hallam, speaking to residents about the issues that matter to them. Let’s get the Tories out! 🌹
