Statement to voters

Scunthorpe and it's surrounding towns and villages are a great place to live and work.

Full statement

I'm ambitious for our area, it's time we had an MP that sees the real potential in this fantastic place and the hard working people who live here.

My Grandad worked at the steel works for almost 30 years, it's always been part of my life. I'm proud that the Conservative Government have supported our steel works, ensuring wages and suppliers have continued to be paid during these difficult times. I promise to fight for Scunthorpe's steel industry and all of the jobs that rely on it's success.

I have visited many schools in North Lincolnshire and seen the amazing work of staff and children. I have been proud to support the Imagination Library providing free books to children up to the age of five and to have served as a school governor and school trustee. I welcome the increased spending the Conservative government have pledged for local schools, I will always support our schools.

Since 2015 I have chaired the North Lincolnshire wide Health Scrutiny Committee, campaigning for improvements to our health services, supporting hard working staff and holding to account health care bosses. These are important times locally for our NHS and we need a strong voice in parliament, someone who will fight for our local services. I promise to always put our local area first.

Whether you voted to leave or to remain the results of the referendum must be respected, we live in a democracy and I strongly believe we must leave the EU. It's time we had an MP who will respect the will of the people and work for Brexit not against it. I will keep my promises, respect resident's views and help to get Brexit done so we can move on.
