Statement to voters

Keith has lived in Hedge End for 40 years, and has been active in local politics for most of that time.

Full statement

Moving to the area in 1983, he has lived and brought up his family in Cranbourne Park, Havendale and Lucerne Gardens.

Keith has served one term as a borough councillor and two as a town councillor, so he knows how to get things done as a councillor.

Keith says: “Policies and principles matter to me more than party colours. I am proud to be representing the Green Party in the Hedge End South by election. The Green’s approach to protecting the environment without making the 90% worse off appeals to me.

The Lib Dems have an effective election machine and dominate both the borough and town council. But they seem to have run out of ideas and there is a noticeable decline in Hedge End. Huge levels of borrowing and debt have brought little benefit to Hedge End. Massive housing developments in green fields around Hedge End are already having an impact on our traffic and infrastructure.

Meanwhile Lib Dem plans for the old Budgens supermarket site are being decided in secret with no consultation. We need to demand greater transparency, and we can get it with an opposition councillor able to challenge the Lib Dems in their closed door meetings.”

Keith volunteers with Hedge End Conservation Volunteers and is a committee member for Hedge End Allotment Association.
