Statement to voters
I want to work with Cullercoats and Whitley Bay residents to make our area an even better place to live, work and unwind.
Full statement
I can see that, as a community, we do so much to help each other and protect our environment. I believe this community spirit is key to our well-being and should get more recognition and support.
I have been actively involved in politics and social justice for most of my life and am convinced that inequality is the root cause of many of our societal problems.
I worked as a mental health nurse for over 30 years, and during this time, I had the opportunity to work with some of the most disadvantaged people in our communities. This experience has helped me to understand how our physical, emotional, social, and environmental well-being are interconnected.
I firmly believe that:
• Recognising these connections can help us make positive changes in our community.
• People can make a real difference when they work together with shared goals.
• Access to good housing, reliable income, fulfilling work, and meaningful social activities are all vital to experiencing good well-being.
• By tapping into the community spirit in our area, we can work together to tackle many of the challenges we face.
On May 7th, we have a unique opportunity to make a real difference. North Tyneside will not be short of Labour councillors, but with your vote, we can bring a fresh ‘Green’ voice to the council.
