Statement to voters

As a local man who has lived in South Gloucestershire all my life, I use the same bus services, hospitals, broadband connections and, as my children grow older, the same local schools as everybody in our community.

Full statement

I grew up here, am raising my family here and i am fiercely proud to represent our beautiful community.

I have been passionately raising the issues that matter to us; delivering a seven-days-a-week Minor Injuries Unit with more X-Ray services in Yate and pushing forward the delivery of Frenchay and Thornbury Health Hubs. We have scrapped the Severn Bridge Tolls, secured a Yate Park and Ride, protected hospital bus services like the Y6 and are pressing on with Junction 18A onto the M4.

We are waging a fierce campaign to fight the plans to overdevelop Thornbury, Charfield, Coalpit Heath and Iron Acton. We've had good results - but these housing plans could be brought back at any moment if we let up.

As a local father, our schools are a top priority, with every South Gloucestershire school receiving a real terms increase in their funding. I want our children to have a first-class education in schools with high standards.

More local houses than ever have a strong broadband connection and I have secured an extra £900,000 to help connect the remaining 4% of households. Our local economy is booming, and I am holding Jobs Fairs which have helped support more local people in to work than ever before.

I have a Positive Plan for our community which you have been supporting me to deliver. I would like to continue this work and make further progress, and i humbly ask for your support to see these plans through.

Ours is a key constituency in deciding the outcome of the election nationally - there has never been a Conservative majority Government without a Conservative MP here. The choice is between delivering Brexit and moving on to deliver our Positive Plan for South Gloucestershire, or risking it all with a Government led by Jeremy Corbyn.

With my best wishes,

Luke Hall
