Gillian was elected as a Borough and Parish Councillor for the Euxton South ward on 3rd May 2018.

The main focus of the campaign was to lobby Lancashire County Council to make improvements to the roads in the ward, which were in a sorry state.

Gillian has tirelessly campaigned against the over-development of Euxton and spoke against the Dunrobin Drive development at the Planning Committee and has continued to support residents as the building began. Gillian also met with residents along School Lane with her Parish Council colleagues and again, stated her objection to the Gladman planning application by writing to the Planning Inspectorate.

Gillian wrote and presented a Notice of Motion for Chorley Council to create a Champion for Mental Health Awareness role. This was unanimously supported by all councillors in July 2020 and in the near future, an elected member will be appointed to this role.

In September 2020, Gillian was co-opted onto Astley Village Parish Council.

Gillian lived in Eccleston for most of her life and her family still live there, along with many friends.

She works for Nelson and Colne College Group, is a Unison workplace representative and has regularly campaigned to Save the A and E department at Chorley Hospital, as well as campaigning for mental health awareness. She raises money for Lancashire MIND on a regular basis.
