Statement to voters
The daughter of Irish immigrants, I was born and raised in the North East of England.
Before working in Parliament, I was a councillor in Gateshead – with responsibilities for public health.
I am a proud trade-unionist and I am a member of both Unite and Unison.
I proudly fight for working people and for social justice. I am passionate about abolishing child poverty and ending health inequalities.
Delivering for Durham has been the heart of my work as an MP. With a Labour government, I will be able to bring about long lasting and real change for Durham.
