Statement to voters
Coleridge has been my home for over 20 years, and I have had the privilege of being a teacher to many of our young people in local schools.
Full statement
I have been a local councillor for over 10 years. On 7 May, I am standing for re-election so that I can continue delivering for our communities here in Coleridge.
My priorities for Coleridge:
Build communities, not just homes. Tackle anti-social behaviour. Champion community grants, food hubs, holiday lunches. Build a new community room and improve green spaces.
High quality homes for all. Continue building a new generation of green council homes, including at Fanshawe Road, so that local people have great places to live. Support residents in need with housing and address rough sleeping.
Cheaper, easier, safer travel. Improve Cherry Hinton Road cycleway, tackle speeding cars, scooters and e-bikes, fix potholes, fight to save the Tiger Pass, champion better buses.
I’m already working hard for Coleridge. I’ve challenged poor planning decisions, and stood up for local businesses, including shops on Cherry Hinton Road. I’ve installed outdoor gym equipment. I made sure the number of council homes built on Fanshawe and Davy is more than before (up from 52 to at least 94). I brought in the Tiger Pass for young people and free pre-9.30am travel for concessionary bus pass holders.
Most of these things started as issues raised by fellow local residents like you. We have achieved all these improvements working together. But there’s so much more to do.
I want to continue to work with you to address other local issues and secure improvements that can benefit our local community and make Coleridge an even better place to live.
