Statement to voters
I am currently the County Councillor for Didcot West and work tirelessly for our community.
Full statement
Many issues I have as a priority like getting Didcot the much needed and long overdue new health facilities and the road and cycle provision are under the county councils responsibility and therefore I am standing for election.
I have great pride in saying I grew up in Didcot and lived here all my life. I am married to Michelle and our two daughters went to Didcot girls school.
I have had the great privilege of spending day after day volunteering at the Didcot vaccination centre and seeing so many residents and friends again while we get our lives back to normal.
During those difficult years I also had great pride in helping to run the GWP Covid-19 community response, where as volunteers in our community we provided a food larder service including delivering boxes, prescriptions, dog walking and very importantly phone calls.
I am also passionate about protecting our environment and after having my motion approved to create a South Oxfordshire Tree Champion to give a stronger voice on issues around protecting trees, hedgerows and woodlands I was pleased to be appointed to that role. This is just one example of how if elected I can continue to look at new ways of not just protecting but enhancing our wonderful area.
Having supported the successful bid for £300m of infrastructure improvements for Didcot’s road and cycle network I am really to looking forward to ensuring this is delivered to the highest standard after Labour and Liberal councillors refused it and thankfully the planning inspector made the correct decision. Promoting active travel is key to us building back better.
This is a local election and about local issues and local people, I believe having a local councillor who knows the area and issues facing our community is vital.
I work all year every year, while others only appear at election time.
