Statement to voters
Sue has lived in Hurstpierpoint for 35 years and for most of her working life she was an educator of secondary age students and she says she loved every minute of the time spent doing this.
Full statement
Sue believes that our young people deserve the chances in life that people of her generation have experienced. But she fears that some of these opportunities are being closed down by the scale of the environmental and social justice issues that we face. She hears her grandchildren and their friends discuss their worries about their future. That’s why she joined the Green Party some time ago as they are the only political party actually committed to engaging with the realities of the energy crisis, the cost of living crisis, the climate crisis, the environmental crisis and working with realistic, sustainable policies.
“I sincerely believe that having more Green Party councilors elected will have a significant effect in moving local issues forward. We seek a collaborative approach rather than being combative. Planning needs a rethink, water supply and sewage treatment needs a rethink. Housing developments need a rethink, especially on higher standards of energy efficiency. There is so much that currently is just not being done. We see that central Government shows little sign of changing this situation. Action at local government level is needed to address the challenges predicted for our very near future
Currently politics is in turmoil as neither the Labour nor the Conservative parties are offering the solutions needed. Politics is failing us and it’s time for change. I can be a part of that change: I would work hard to represent you in all aspects of governance.”
