Chris was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Dundee West in 2015, and was subsequently re-elected at the 2017 and 2019 general elections.

During his time as an MP, Chris has served on the Scottish Affairs Committee, the International Development Committee and the Committee on Arms Exports Control. From 2017 to 2022, he was the SNP’s Spokesperson on International Development and Climate Justice.Prior to being elected, he was a leading Yes campaigner during the independence referendum in 2014 and founder of the Spirit of Independence road tour of communities in a refurbished fire engine, which attracted national and international interest.He has previously worked as a French chef, an expedition leader in the Himalayas, and as a mortgage advisor.
