Full statement

Jacqueline, who has lived in Vauxhall since 2017, stood as the Green Party candidate for Vauxhall in the 2019 General Election and the 2023 Vauxhall by-election. She campaigned against Brexit in 2015/16. In the General election 2019, Jacqueline standing as MP candidate for Vauxhall achieved the highest percentage rise in the constituency (by proportion), increasing by 150% from the previous election.

Jacqueline wants politics led by the people, and has campaigned against pharmaceutical malpractice in a patient and politics-focused mental health charity, and fought for greater protection of the environment as a campaigner and volunteer at The Animal Fund (TAF), an environmental charity which operates across Europe. She started an environmental campaign group called United for Ocean last year which acts to bring together different groups to work together for environmental action to protect the ocean.

Jacqueline Bond says about Vauxhall:
"Our community deserves more than complacency in the council as we face the weight of an ever deteriorating cost of living crisis, housing insecurity, and harmful pollution in Vauxhall.

I believe in the power of community-led change, which the Green Party stands for, and why I stand as a councillor to help locals by listening to them and acting accordingly. Now more than ever, we can challenge the entrenched norm that accepts a one-party Labour council that treads cautiously while our streets remain unaffordable, our homes uncertain, and air polluted.

With a renewed Lambeth Council with Green Party councillors we can implement policies that prioritise affordable housing and sustainable development. We can refund public services and put back into the community where it has been sold off or neglected. We want to address the lack of transparency in the budget and champion libraries, green spaces and safe, clean streets in the area."
