Statement to voters

My work as a health care professional and researcher has brought me to Great Yarmouth over the years working with children, families and older people.

Before I moved into the Great Yarmouth constituency I was a Green councillor in Mid-Suffolk where I represented local residents and businesses holding those in power to account to ensure local issues were clearly heard.

The Green Party is leading the fight against climate chaos. Great Yarmouth and villages on the coast are on the front line. Tidal surges are happening more often, resulting in coastal erosion and flooding due to sea-level rise. This election gives us a chance to place climate chaos firmly on the political agenda where it needs to be. I support the Green Party pledge of allocating £100bn over the next 10 years to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. We cannot leave it any longer. Such vital support for the renewable offshore industry should clearly benefit local communities.

Climate chaos is real. It needs to be tackled seriously. Great Yarmouth is on the front line and can lead if given the chance.

The Green Party has consistently called for a People’s Vote. With strong views on both sides of the argument, the country needs healing. A People’s Vote would respect voters with all shades of opinion. It recognises that we all have much more information now than we had in 2016. Such a vote can be based on accurate information with a clear choice between the basis of a deal and remain.
