Full statement
He lives in Egham with his wife, daughter, dog and cat, and is a professional photographer.
Steve sees the imminent changes to local government across Surrey as an opportunity to do things better. But there are also significant challenges ahead.
"This is no time for beginners! West Surrey Council will be a new organisation where we will be effectively re-inventing the wheel. The learning curve for a new councillor is steep, even in an existing Council with other, more experienced Councillors and Officers to support and guide you. But not only will WSC Councillors need to get on-board with the increased casework - 2 Councillors will be replacing the 7 Councillors you currently have - but they will be setting up an entirely new council structure at the same time."
"With regard to Laleham & Shepperton, I think the big ticket item must be delivery of the River Thames Scheme flood defences. But more directly, and what many people are talking about, I would want tighter licencing around HMOs as well as greater transparency in local planning applications so residents can see what's being proposed in their areas."
"Furthermore, I would push for pothole maintenance and similar maintenance contracts to be brought in-house at the earliest opportunity. The Council spend a fortune paying external contractors and the standard of work is generally appalling."
