Statement to voters

Neil Doolin was elected as the Green Party's first ever councillor on Sefton Council in May's 2024 local elections, beating the sitting Labour Party councillor and Cabinet member by 1412 to 1307 votes.

Neil has been a local campaigner for the people of Waterloo & Seaforth for several years working on issues such as cleaner air for residents, supporting the campaign against the plan to build a dual carriageway through Rimrose Valley and successfully preventing Sefton Council's plan to demolish the community library in Waterloo.   Neil has worked in the NHS since 1990 as a nursing assistant and then qualified as a registered mental health nurse in 1994. He has worked in a variety of clinical areas supporting service users and families including dementia services, a homeless outreach team in Liverpool and in recent years as an operational manager for community mental health teams across south sefton. Neil has a keen interest in developing healthier communities and understands the link between climate, poverty and ill health.   Neil and his wife Lyndsey have lived in Sefton for the past 10 years.
