As a local resident, it is a real privilege to have been selected as Labour’s candidate for Darton East Ward in the local elections on Thursday 7th May 2026.

I’ve lived in Darton for over 28 years and spent 40 years working in the NHS as a Registered Nurse and Health Visitor. I care deeply about our community and believe local representatives should be visible, approachable, and active all year round not just at election time.

I am already working across Darton East, listening to residents, taking action, and helping to get things sorted. I regularly report issues such as potholes, fly-tipping and environmental concerns, and work closely with Barnsley Council, local police, and community partners to follow issues through to action.

If elected, my priorities will include:

• Being available and holding regular surgeries to support residents and local businesses
• Improving roads, transport links, local services and community infrastructure
• Continuing to campaign for better, more reliable bus services across South Yorkshire
• Supporting young people to access local youth services and have a stronger voice in decision-making
• Working with partners to help keep our communities safe and reduce anti-social behaviour

I am an active member of Darton East Ward Alliance and volunteer regularly at Mapplewell and Staincross Village Hall. I also support local environmental groups including Voice for Darton and the Greenspace Group, and take part in regular litter picks alongside Barnsley Council teams.

In 2022, I was honoured to receive a Volunteer of the Year award from Darton East Ward Alliance, recognising my commitment to the local area.
